5 winners arrested for suspected terrorism.

When I say winners, I don’t use the term lightly. Check ’em out:

Occupy a meth pipe!

CNN was quick to point out the local occupy chapter is denying any association with these chumps (even thought they spoke openly of “taking down the 1%”). Here’s a link to the article and the relevant portion:

During the course of the alleged plot, however, Baxter later expressed reservations, saying that blowing up a bridge “would not stop money flowing to the ‘one percent,'” the complaint says.

The reference is catch-all phrase commonly employed by the Occupy movement in describing America’s wealthy, particularly those atop the financial services industry, suggesting they hold disproportionate influence over the rest of the country.

“Occupy Cleveland,” a local branch of the loosely organized protest that began last year in New York’s Zuccotti Park, tweeted on Tuesday that it was “shocked by these allegations.”

“We continue to be committed to creating social change through non-violence,” the group said.

I’m not a huge trumpeter of rampant media bias, but remember when a tea party protester allegedly said the N-word to some passing african-american members of congress and everyone was quick to associate that with the tea party movement as a whole? Even though nobody could even prove it happened. Now we’ve got someone arrested for attempting to commit a terrorist act, claiming to be a part of “the 99%,” and occupy gets a pass?

Politicizing Osama’s death

Nobody is really backing Obama up on the claim that that Romney would not have ordered the Navy Seals to kill Osama bin Laden last year.

“Which path would Mitt Romney have taken?” the video asks. They go on to quote Romney saying “It’s not worth moving heaven and earth spending billions of dollars just trying to catch one person,” which it isn’t.

It really takes balls to imply that someone who said “he is going to pay and he is going to die” would not have made the decision to order Osama killed.

The Obama campaign’s only hope is that people don’t actually fact check its bogus claims. You’re going to see more of this, because without bullshit, Obama has nothing else to campaign on.

Debunking Stephen King

You all know why celebrities and famous people tend to be liberal? It’s because they really haven’t worked all that hard to earn what they have – they got lucky. They think that other rich people got rich that way, too. They’re wrong though. The vast majority of high net worth people got that way through diligent saving and responsible choices.

Stephen King and the turd from Maroon 5 who felt compelled to speak out recently don’t understand that there are a lot of people out there who – although well off and affluent – have actually busted their ass to earn what they have. They think that most rich people have won life’s lottery.

Stephen King is a good author and I’m sure in his own way he’s worked pretty hard to produce the books he does. But let’s face it, writing is not the hardest job in the world. If you got rich doing that, I can see why you would be led to believe that other rich people got rich by getting lucky. Do you think that Stephen King would say “tax me more” if he spent his career getting out of bed, showering every morning, and listening to some shmuck boss for 30+ years like a lot of us have to do? Doubt it.

His article, Tax Me, for F@%&’s Sake! appeared today on the Daily Beast. In it, he says:

“I’ve known rich people, and why not, since I’m one of them? The majority would rather douse their dicks with lighter fluid, strike a match, and dance around singing “Disco Inferno” than pay one more cent in taxes to Uncle Sugar.”

Yeah, because most of your rich buddies worked for what they have. You became a successful writer – which, let’s face it, is a lot like winning the lottery. A lot of gifted writers go unnoticed all the time.

What charitable 1-percenters can’t do is assume responsibility—America’s national responsibilities: the care of its sick and its poor, the education of its young, the repair of its failing infrastructure, the repayment of its staggering war debts

Liberals want you to think that these are mainly the things that the government does. If they get people thinking this, nobody would really have a problem with paying taxes. Hell, I’d even pony up a few bucks myself if I knew my money was going to “care for the sick and educate the young.” But the truth is that the government is spending our money predominantly on bullshit.

I guess some of this mad right-wing love comes from the idea that in America, anyone can become a Rich Guy if he just works hard and saves his pennies. Mitt Romney has said, in effect, “I’m rich and I don’t apologize for it.” Nobody wants you to, Mitt. What some of us want—those who aren’t blinded by a lot of bullshit persiflage thrown up to mask the idea that rich folks want to keep their damn money—is for you to acknowledge that you couldn’t have made it in America without America. That you were fortunate enough to be born in a country where upward mobility is possible (a subject upon which Barack Obama can speak with the authority of experience), but where the channels making such upward mobility possible are being increasingly clogged.

Yes, it’s true that you can only make it big in free societies with robust economies. You know what the opposite of a free society with a robust economy is? I’d say probably a socialist dictatorship like Cuba or North Korea. Now I’m not saying that King is advocating turning us into Cuba – he’s really advocating turning us into something like Greece.

Never mind that soaking the rich won’t even start to solve our debt problem – even if you want to do it simply on principle, you will stifle a great deal of investment – something that grows companies and creates jobs.

New campaign slogan announced today!

President Obama’s campaign announced today that the campaign slogan for this year’s presidential fight will be “Forward.”

“The video reminds viewers of the dire state of the economy in early 2009, when Mr. Obama took office, and all that the president has accomplished since then.” – CBS News

I would like to see him use “Change” again. Because if we don’t change what we’re doing – specifically, spending ourselves into oblivion, there isn’t going to be much to go “forward” to. I’m also tired of campaign buzz words that sound focus grouped.

I promise you that the positivity that the Obama team is using now is going to be slowly phased out as the election comes closer. Tearing apart the “accomplishments” in his video wouldn’t even be all that mentally stimulating, so I think I’ll pass on it for now.

Promissory Note

Promissory Note was created with one goal in mind: debunking the stupidity which surfaces practically every day in the United States.

Stupidity comes in many shapes and sizes. I will call it out when I see it – period. I will follow the news and let you know what makes sense and what doesn’t.

This blog will be awesome – if you subscribe, you will not be sorry.

There will be no labels and no sides taken for me – just pure logic and common sense applied to the day’s events. My readers will not even know who I am. It’s better that way. I’m not a total shmuck or anything, it’s just not important.
